I recently had the privilege of photographing this sweet family, The Dennis Family! Kylie Dennis was the winner of the Mother’s Day Giveaway. I was so excited to meet her, her husband, and her adorable baby! While deciding on a location, Kylie suggested the New Hampshire Audubon Massabesic Center. I had never been, but she said she always sees people taking pictures there and that it is a beautiful spot. I was up for a little adventure, so we decided on the Massabesic Center!

Location

I got there a little early to scope out the setting, think of poses specific to that location, and see how busy it was. We decided on Golden Hour, the hour before sunset, and I thought it would be busy, but I was pleasantly surprised! There was one other family taking pictures, but they left before the Dennis Family came. It was truly a beautiful location, and I will definitely continue to use the center as a backdrop. Especially in Golden Hour, the lighting is beautiful and glowy. There were a few good spots to take pictures, and I was ready to meet the Dennis Family!

The Family

The Dennis Family, comprising of Kylie, her husband, Miles, and their almost 8-month-old son, Otto, were a delight to work with! Their enthusiasm and cooperation were palpable from the start, setting the tone for an amazing and fun session. As we strolled to the first photo location, Kylie shared that they are adept at following photographers' directions. True to her words, they were quick to respond to any cues I gave, making the session a breeze.

Taking Photos

Otto was so adorable! He made so many cute faces and didn’t really cry at all. Andres was trying to get his attention with fun sounds and big movements. When I took photos with just Mom or Dad, the other parent distracted him, and, as a team, we made sure he was looking toward the camera. We even got him to laugh a few times! My favorite part of family sessions is the spontaneous moments where I can truly see the family's personality and the kiddo's fun nature. Otto wanted to be on the ground, so we took a few photos of him sitting so he could be in his element. At one point, as we walked to another section of the center, which had beautiful lighting, we came across a small patch of yellow flowers on the way. We paused and took photos in the little flower patch. Otto loved the flowers, and I got a few photos showcasing his curiosity.
