This month has been jam-packed! August just started, but I sure was busy! I wanted to reflect on August as I look forward to September!
Senior Sessions
I had a couple of great senior sessions this month! As a former high school teacher, I find senior portraits to be very special. I miss teaching a lot, especially all the great kids I got to meet in my time as a teacher. Sharing these special moments of capturing a senior’s accomplishments and personality is very important to me. I will continue to work hard this senior session season to ensure seniors get photos they can share with their loved ones and encapsulate who they are!
Testimonials
I received some beautiful testimonials this month! I think we all get imposter syndrome sometimes, myself included. When I feel doubt creeping in, I turn to the testimonials and reviews I’ve acquired through the years to remind myself that I do a great job and that my work and photographic style are appreciated and celebrated. Thank you to all who have written me referrals over the past few years; you really keep my confidence up!
Creative Session
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with some amazing creatives at the beginning of the month. My mentor, Cherif, got together a group of 6 photographers and two models and, as always, it was a great time. Not only is it so fun to create with other photographers, but I learned a lot from them, too. One of the models, Mariana, was a college student when i was an Academic Coach. She saw that I was a photographer and that she wanted to model! I did a session with her and introduced her to some of my photographer friends and now she is doing photo sessions all the time! The other model, Katherin, was also super sweet. It was my first time meeting her, but she was awesome! She even has her own corset company called SwaggaNow. It was a great experience!
Alive Dance tours Convention
My cousin Nicole runs a dance convention called Alive Dance Tours. It’s a fabulous event; you can check it out here! Nicole’s usual photographer couldn’t go this time, so I jumped in! I love photographing events like this. They are so dynamic and fun. It’s also a challenge to get the proper lighting since each room has different ambient light, but I love a challenge! I had a lot of fun and hope to take photos for her again!
Venezuela Rally
Andrés, Isabella, and I all went to a rally in Boston to support the Venezuelan opposition party and their right to transfer the presidency peacefully. I have a three-part series on what is happening starting September 15, but I got some fantastic pictures from the rally. The series will be part of a more extensive Hispanic Heritage Month series featuring different aspects of Hispanic culture. Stay tuned to see some really cool photos of really cool people that are kicking off on September 15!
All in all, this month has been amazing. I got lots of practice taking photos and worked my creative muscles. I met some awesome people and took a bunch of great photos that I can’t wait to share. I am looking forward to the Hispanic Heritage Month series, so make sure you’re watching my socials starting September 15!
